Bowen Engineering received the Environmental Award for their work. Since 2000, they have been the general contractor for the construction, installation and implementation of City of Lafayette projects for the wastewater treatment plant and Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) updates and expansions. They worked on three phases of the city’s combined sewer overflow long term control plan which include sewer separation projects of nearly 1,000 acres of combined sewers. Some of the projects include the Jefferson High School stormwater park in Phase 1, installation of a 4.2-million-gallon CSO storage tank, installed a CSO storage system at the Pearl River lift station which included a 310-kW solar field that provides nearly 90% of the electricity needed to run the lift station. They also completed the Brown Street paver project, Valley Street storm water project along with the 9th and South stormwater pumping station. All of these projects have greatly reduced the number and volume of CSOs and have had a positive impact on the environment and the Wabash River. Congratulations to Bowen Engineering for their work for the community and the environment.
